Novalait celebrates 25 years of research at the service of an innovative dairy industry

 

November 5, 2020 – On November 5th, Novalait brought together nearly 100 participants at its general meeting of shareholders, a record attendance for its first virtual edition. Processors, dairy farmers and researchers all appreciated the opportunity to learn about Novalait’s accomplishments. Mr. Michel Couture, President of Novalait, highlighted the audacity of Novalait’s founders: “In 1995, Quebec’s visionary dairy farmers and dairy processors made their mark by investing in a unique organization to develop the knowledge and expertise that an innovative dairy industry expects.”

Two new members were elected to Novalait’s Board of Directors. Congratulations to Ms. Chantal Fleury, Assistant Director of Economic Research at Producteurs de lait du Québec, and Mr. Jean-Marc Bertrand, Director of Procurement at Danone and representative for the Conseil des industriels laitiers du Québec. Other directors in office include Mr. Yvan Bastien, Director of Les Producteurs de lait du Québec, Mr. Charles Langlois, CEO of the Conseil des industriels laitiers du Québec and Mr. Simon Robert, Director of the Agropur Dairy Cooperative. Mr. Michel Couture, President of Novalait, is also a director of the Agropur Dairy Cooperative.

 

For the 2019–2020 fiscal year, the commitments made by Novalait and its partners to 19 projects and four research chairs in progress totalled $12.5 million, including $4 million for new projects. Since its creation in 1995, Novalait and its partners have invested $54.9 million in research. An overview of the impacts and benefits of Novalait’s 25 years of activities was presented.
