Eric Paquet

Ph.D.Université Laval

Eric Paquet completed his undergraduate studies in computer science at the University of Sherbrooke. He then specialized in machine learning as part of his master’s degree in computer science at the Université de Montréal. He was then director of bioinformatics for 8 years at the Centre de Recherche Hospitalier Universitaire de Québec (CRCHUQ) before undertaking his PhD at McGill University in machine learning applied to precision medicine. He did his postdoctoral training in Switzerland at the École Polytechnique Fédéral de Lausanne (EPFL) in the laboratory of Professor Félix Naef where he conducted research in systems biology of individual cells. He is now a professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at Laval University where he hopes to put his knowledge in animal production to good use. Professor Paquet’s research interests include :

-The development of machine learning tools for precision animal production;

-The valorization of data in animal production;

-The use of genomics in animal production;

-Chronobiology and circadian rhythms;

-Systems biology of individual cells.
