Mario Jacques

After completing his doctoral thesis in microbiology at the Université de Montréal, Dr. Mario Jacques did his post-doctoral training at the University of Calgary. He then joined the Department of Pathology and Microbiology of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Université de Montréal in 1985. He is currently Professor in this department and Director of the Regroupement de recherche pour un lait de qualité optimale (Op+Lait). His research interests focus on virulence factors of bacterial pathogens with an emphasis on biofilm formation. He has published more than 175 scientific papers. He received the Fisher Award from the Canadian Society of Microbiologists and the Pfizer and Vétoquinol research awards for his outstanding contributions in animal health.
