Novalait would like to warmly congratulate Simon Dufour of the Université de Montréal and Xin Zhao of McGill University, both recently honoured by the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) for their outstanding scientific contributions to the dairy industry.

West Agro Inc. Award
Simon Dufour was awarded the prestigious West Agro Inc. Award from the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA). This distinction recognizes exceptional scientific or technical contributions related to milk quality, particularly in the areas of mastitis, milking management, udder health, and milk safety.
A professor of veterinary epidemiology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Université de Montréal, Simon Dufour leads the Op+lait research group and holds the Chair in Biosecurity of Dairy Production, an initiative supported by Novalait. His work focuses primarily on the epidemiology of mastitis and other infectious diseases, as well as on monitoring the use of antimicrobials in dairy production. He specializes in diagnostic strategies and the development of data visualization tools for monitoring herd health.
His passion for research and teaching makes him a shining example of the scientific excellence that Novalait is committed to fostering.
Fellow of the ADSA
Xin Zhao has been awarded the prestigious title of Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA), an exceptional honor reserved for members who have rendered outstanding service to the dairy industry for more than 20 years. This distinction highlights major scientific contributions to the dairy sector and a sustained commitment to the scientific community.
Xin Zhao, Professor Emeritus at McGill University, is internationally recognized for his expertise in lactation physiology, mastitis research, antimicrobial resistance, and gut health. His research program aims to improve farm management to prevent animal diseases while ensuring a sustainable and healthy food supply. As the author or co-author of over 280 peer-reviewed scientific articles, he has also mentored more than 100 graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting professors.
An active contributor to several projects supported by Novalait, Xin Zhao makes significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge and innovation in dairy production.
