A farm-based research project provides an overview of the quality of drinking water for dairy cows in Quebec.

A clear takeaway: Test the water before investing!

Led by Véronique Ouellet, associate professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at Université Laval, this research highlights certain factors that can affect water quality on dairy farms.

Beyond the results presented, the central message is clear: testing the water before investing is essential. Too often, costly solutions are implemented without a precise diagnosis. The infographic reminds us that every farm is unique and that water quality can vary depending on the source, the season, and the infrastructure.

At a glance, this document equips dairy farmers to make informed decisions based on reliable data. A visual, practical, and scientific tool that helps ask the right questions before taking action on water quality.

Novalait thanks researcher Véronique Ouellet for her interest in water quality, an important topic for dairy production but one that has received little research attention. Thank you to the Impakt Scientifik team for designing and producing this infographic project. This effort to disseminate the research results was made possible thanks to financial support from the Quebec Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAPAQ).
