Novalait is accelerating the development of scientific knowledge and skills for the dairy industry of tomorrow

November 4, 2019 – Novalait, gathered on November 1, more than fifty participants in its General Meeting of shareholders. Producers, processors, partners and researchers have been able to appreciate the achievements of Novalait. Charles Langlois, outgoing President, gave a positive assessment of 2018-2019: “Over the last few years, Novalait has increased its investments in research to reach full operating capacity. Novalait has been agile and creative in generating high leverage effect in a context of changing programs and government research fundings. ”

All members of Novalait’s Board of Directors have been re-elected for a new two-year term. Congratulations to Mr. Michel Couture, dairy producer and director at Agropur coopérative laitière who has been appointed Novalait’s president. Mr. Yvan Bastien of the Producteurs de lait du Québec is Vice-President and Mr. Charles Langlois, CEO of the Conseil des industriel laitiers du Québec, is Secretary-Treasurer. The other directors are Mrs. Geneviève Rainville, Les Producteurs de lait du Québec, Mrs. Dominique Mathieu, CILQ and Mr. Simon Robert of Agropur coopérative laitière.

During fiscal year 2018-2019, Novalait supported 18 projects and three industrial research chairs for investments totaling $ 11.3 million from Novalait and its partners. Since its creation in 1995, Novalait has supported 126 research projects totaling $ 50.6 million.

Participants also attended short presentations on new projects that enabled discussions. “I was delighted by the participation in the AGM and the richness of the exchanges. It is with pride that I begin the realization of my mandate in this stimulating context of projects that attracted the interest of enterprises. ” mentioned Mr.  Michel Couture, new president of Novalait.
