Xin Zhao

Xin Zhao is a  Professor at the Department of Animal Science of McGill University, Montreal, Canada. He obtained his BSc and MSc from Nanjing Agricultural University in China and PhD from Cornell University. He was trained as a lactation physiologist. His primary research interests pertain to the interaction between pathogens and hosts in cows and poultry. For his research in dairy cows, he has focused on mastitis and milk protein allergy. He has been a leader in determining the antibiotic resistance in milk staphylococci and the host response during mastitis. His group has adopted a multidisciplinary approach including microbiological, genomic, proteomic and physiological methods to study complex host–pathogen interactions during mastitis.
